Choose A Glass Variety For Paneled Cabinet Doors
Glass-paneled cabinet doors will add a sense of openness to your kitchen and provide visibility it you would like to display some of your decorative pieces or fancy dinnerware. If you are undecided about the type of glass to purchase, consider some of the qualities, benefits, and drawbacks of each style.
Crystal Or Standard
Crystal or leaded glass contains lead oxide, which increases the clarity of glass. It has a tendency to refract light and is weightier than standard glass. If you want to showcase fine china or the colorful array of dinnerware pieces and cookery that you own, then crystal could be the material that you are looking for.
Crystal glass does, however, tend to be softer than standard glass, which could result in scratches appearing in a panel's surface if you aren't particularly careful when putting heavy items back into the cabinet space.
Standard glass is subtly less brilliant than crystal, but won't be as prone to damage. Smudges will frequently appear on the glass, so if you are going to be opening and closing the cabinet doors a lot, be prepared to clean the glass panels often.
Frosted Or Colored
Acid etching or sandblasting is used to create frosted glass. A glass panel will have a pitted surface that isn't opaque like crystal or standard glass. It will allow some light through, making it possible to see the outline or color of objects inside of a cabinet.
Frosted glass is a good option for your kitchen cabinets if you tend to be disorganized some of the time and don't want to draw quite as much attention to each item that is stored inside of the cabinets.
Frosted glass requires the same level of care as standard panels. Frosted or plain glass panels that are colored will add a unique twist to your kitchen layout. If you choose colored panels, pick a color that won't be overbearing and that will tie into the decorative style of the room.
Textured Or Engraved
Textured or engraved glass panels that contain a design or monogram may add classiness and a level of prestige to the cabinets. A custom motif that encompasses the entire surface of each glass panel or specific portions of a panel can be added to any variety of glass that you prefer.
Avoid choosing a textured or engraved style that is currently trendy so that your kitchen cabinets won't have a dated appearance if the design style becomes somewhat unpopular several years from now.
