Planning The Perfect Outdoor Space

About Me
Beautiful Hanging Baskets

Like my mom, I’ve never been good at gardening. Sadly, I usually have extreme difficulties keeping plants and flowers alive. Surprisingly, my sister is an extremely talented agriculture teacher. Her hobby is growing flowers. My sister understands my lack of gardening talents. For this reason, she gives me a few hanging baskets of geraniums each year. She knows that these flowers are easy to maintain. Thankfully, I seem to have success growing these gorgeous flowers. They bloom nearly all year on my front porch. On this blog, I hope you will discover the easiest plants and flowers to grow. Enjoy!

If you are beginning the landscaping process at your own home, you know there are a lot of decisions ahead. Choosing the right grass, plants, patios, and entertaining space is crucial. Here are some tips to help you plan the backyard of your dreams:

Find the Purpose of your Yard

It helps to know what you plan to use this outdoor space for. Identifying these needs early on will help you know what your end goal is. Is this a yard for the kids to run and kick a ball in? Do you need an outdoor kitchen area for all the food prep if you want to entertain? Make a list and keep it close while you start the next few steps.

Make a Budget

Making a budget is the smartest way to tackle any home improvement process. Knowing what you can realistically spend will help keep you on track and within your means. Prioritizing the budgeted funds for the things on your list will help you know where most of your money should go. You don't need to spend five thousand dollars on a water feature that sits on your patio if you are going to do a cheap patio. You want to think about resale value as you spend your cash. The foundation of everything you do should be done with quality and craftsmanship so that it looks good long term. Making a budget and sticking to it can help you get a healthy return on your investment.

Hire a Designer

Planning the placement of plants, patios, and other fixtures might not be your strong-suit. It may be best to prioritize the design and spend some of the budget on a local landscape designer. You will want to find someone who comes highly recommended and who has a portfolio to prove their skills. Bringing in a fresh set of eyes is always a good idea because they might have some great ideas to add or find problems with your other plans. These landscape professionals know what plants do best in your local environment and can help you plan year long bloom in your yard. Hiring a designer costs more upfront, but can make your outdoor space a better investment.

Planning the perfect outdoor space is an exciting project to tackle. It will help your family enjoy every part of your home and encourage new memories to be made. Do it right and you will find yourself with a yard you enjoy for years to come.
